Special benefit for Mort Kay, Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame member, featuring Eef!
Denver Country Music legend Mort Kay is in need of our help. Disabled after failed surgery for spinal degeneration of the neck in ‘97, he’s been living with very limited mobility ever since. His insurance has denied much needed physical therapy on the two separate occasions that he has tried to pursue it to improve his mobility and quality of life.
Let’s help Mort get some physical therapy for heavensake!
Mort played with his band, Mort Kay and the Country Swingsters, for 25 years up until the time of his surgery. He began playing in bands at the age of 16 when he was still a student at North High. After graduating and playing in various bands for several years Mort formed the Swingsters and they “played every place in Denver,” says Mort, as well as bars and clubs in Pueblo, Cheyenne, Greeley, Idaho Springs, Conifer, Silver Springs and even Tiny Town---at bar & grill across the street called the Stage Coach Inn, which has since burned down. Mort is a multi-talented musician who played guitar, bass and drums as well as singing lead and back up vocals over the years. He’s been unable to play since his surgery and has been working part time as a booking agent for several bands, including Eef.
The Hangar will be donating 15% of all sales from open to close on March 6th so come on down and get bombed at the Hangar for Mort! |
